The SWAMP

Just a quick post to show you what Nolan drew last week!  If this isn't proof we're "startin' 'em young and raisin' 'em right" then I don't know what is!  HA HA HA

Not sure you can read what it says, but at the top is The Swamp.  Only Gators get out alive.  I love UF.

Way to go Nolan!

Clearwater Threshers

A dear friend of ours plays minor league baseball for the Clearwater Threshers (here in Florida).  This is the minor league team of the Philadelphia Phillies.  He's a talented young man and a sweet one too!  Now y'all.  When I say sweet.  I mean SWEET.  He even manages to come home quite often and always stops by the high school baseball field where he played and help out with practice (he and the high school coach remain very good friends).  He also drops by the little league field every now and then to watch my boys practice baseball.  It just doesn't get any sweeter than that.

We finally made the time to go watch Jiwan play ball late this summer and had a blast!  We discovered two things on this trip.  One, Clearwater is not nearly as far as we thought it was.  Two, minor league baseball games are FUN.  The hubs and I have both been to major league games before, and only one other minor league game, but it seems like the minor games are WAY less stressful!  ha-ha!

Jiwan was so sweet to provide us with amazing seats!  Right behind home plate!  Best seats in the house!

I'm pretty sure that sign should read "Beware of BASEBALLS flying over the net and hitting you in the face".  ha!

We weren't able to see Jiwan before the game, but I got a few great pictures of him during warm-up.

And if you've never been to a baseball game where the boys stand and listen to the National Anthem, then you've just not lived!  This is probably one of my favorite parts of a game!

Jiwan played GREAT baseball and we were so excited for him!  There's just no greater feeling in the world than seeing someone you love and respect do well.

Jiwan in the dugout toward the end of the game...not sure what he's doing here, but he did give us hand signals and ask where the boys were!  ha!  Since the game was at 7:00 at night 2 hours from home, we decided it was best to leave the boys at home and they could see Jiwan later!
Despite the fact he was disappointed in us for not bringing the kiddos, he did manage to sign a baseball for each of them.

He even made time to get a picture with me!  ha!  And y'all be on the lookout, cause he's moving on up in the world of baseball and I wouldn't be surprised one bit if he's Major League by next year. : )

What a great trip to see great baseball with a GREAT friend!

Account Balance Satisfied

I've posted here before that the hubs and I are working hard to become debt-free.  You've seen on my blog before about us  Taking Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University and that it was probably one of the best things we've ever done for our family.  We didn't agree with every single thing Ramsey said, but we took what we thought was best for us, and implemented those strategies.

In August, our debt-free quest became even closer, as we paid off a HUGE debt, otherwise known as a John Deere 7320 Row-Crop Tractor.  BIG BUSINESS.  Just look at this beautiful letter!  I know you probably can't read it, but for SURE it says "our account balance has been satisfied".

We're still on our quest to become debt-free so that we can own one of these bad boys one day!

More updates on our debt-free quest coming in late October or early November!  I will have pictures and update on 3 other things that we have paid in FULL!

Decorating a Pumpkin

Carter has his first Kindergarten project this week!  He has to decorate a pumpkin!  (thankfully it's on paper
because I hate pumpkin guts!)

He sat down last night to work on it and I couldn't resist taking a few pictures of him working hard!

First, he wanted to put some black glitter on the vine part at the top (don't ask why not green, I don't know how the boy's mind works).

As is traditional, Carter worked on painting the pumpkin a nice shade of orange.  Ironically, the shade was called "Eat Your Carrots".  Cute, huh?

I'll be sure to show you the finished product when we have it completed.  He has pulled out black pom-poms, orange glitter, and some twine for this project.  Oh mercy.

Overwhelmed

Anyone ever feel OVERWHELMED?  That's where I am during this period of my life!  Between Fall sports, work, school functions, other things that have to be done, and housework, I'm completely 100% overwhelmed!

It's a good thing the hubs could care less about how the inside of the house looks because right about now, it's a HOT MESS!  I know "this too shall pass" but I am not sure I'll make it to that point! ha-ha!

Water Balloons

A few weeks ago, the boys and I were “home alone” so we went to the Dollar General.  Yes, I realize it’s a sad, sad day when my Friday night fun consists of going to the Dollar store.

Anyhow, the DG had their summer toys on major clearance.  The toys were 50% off AND buy one get one free.  That means the boys got 2 water balloon pumps with hundreds of balloons for $4.00 TOTAL.

HELLO WEEKEND FUN.

And this is what “Mom” got from the DG.
