Groceries and MONEY!!!

I've always been fairly conservative when it comes to money (not too hard to do when you don't have much to begin with!, ha!). I invest conservatively, I spend SUPER conservatively and I can spot a bargain from 10 miles away! When it's time to go shopping the day after Thanksgiving or the day after Christmas, it's ME you want to go with, trust me! ha-ha

There is a girl in our Sunday School class, and one whom I've known for the better part of my life who saves A TON OF MONEY in groceries!!! She does this through using coupons at various stores and "stacking" coupons to save more money! I was so excited when another of my friends, sweet Danielle, hosted a class at her home last week!! We learned all about how to stack those coupons!

I ventured to Publix a few days after my first class and here's what I got:

I was able to get all the above for $7.67 (or something close to it)..with tax, it was right at $8.00...I COULD HAVE walked out of there spending only $3, but I didn't see my subtotal before I handed them my coupons and so I didn't get to use my $5 off a $20 purchase coupon. BUMMER! But....live and learn! I'm thinking I still got a good deal on the above items for only $8.00!!! (probably the only reason I still spent $8 is because that shortening you see was $4 by itself!) I think I got one other item too, but I put it somewhere else in the house and then couldn't remember what it was.....sorry!

Stay tuned to see and hear about my great grocery deals!

  7. That is good to be able to save money in this day and age. We don't get a newspaper so I don't have much opportunity to clip coupons. I remember my mother"s coupon holder bulging with coupons and she made sure she used all of them before they expired. I think it's a great way to save money when you have a young, growing family.

  8. Okay, so would your friend be will to come teach a class to about 5-10 of me and my friends. We would all even chip in and give her a good 'ol fashion love offering to help us. Several of my friends have been clipping coupons but are still waiting on the big savings. Seriously, let me know I would really be interested. And let her know that I'm not some kind of crazy person :)

  9. I too have no idea what coupon stacking is... can we request a detailed post... ;) I consider myself fairly coupon savvy... but this sounds like something BIG that I am missing out on! ;) Happy Monday afternoon!
