Catchin' a Cure!

This past weekend at the baseball field, we had a great time "Catchin' a Cure for Breast Cancer!" Our high school boys really got into this and even wore pink shirts! (can you imagine?) They really did good with this and played great too!

I have to tell y'all a funny story though....apparently at a planning meeting for the event, someone came up with the idea of "Save Second Base" which I thought was HYSTERICAL!! I know....I know......that's why they didn't use it....cause they thought it might offend some people, but I don't care who you are--that's FUNNY! I completely understand why they went with "Catchin a Cure" but I still like "Save Second Base."

Here's a few pictures of the big event, which was a raving success!

The coaches and their wives; us girls really have a good time sitting by each other at the games!

Me and my best friend, Mandi (we do a lot together and the night before this, we went and had pedicures!)

Me and the hubby

I think the next time I see a Breast Cancer Awareness sign or pink ribbon, all I will do is smile and think to myself "Save Second Base."

You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!

Oh my heavens! My nightmare has materialized! My father-in-law bought my boys BB Guns! (and without asking me, might I add) Yes real ones! All I can think is "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!" (remember the old Christmas movie?)

Now listen--I have a GREAT father-in-law! He fixes things at my house, takes us places, would give someone the shirt off his back if they needed it, pays for things when we go on trips, cooks a mean fish chowder, and much much more--BUT--BB Guns? Are you serious? I about fainted!!

In his defense, I will say that he took them to his river house so the boys could shoot the water--AND he has told them all about the safety switch. My children are by no means strangers to firearms, if I told you how many we owned, you'd gasp! But still..the thought of my 5 and 3 year old boys having BB guns just worries me a little.....I'm waiting for the screaming and the sight of blood to happen.....did I mention the river house is AT LEAST an hour away from any major hospital? Might I reiterate to you "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!"

Here's Carter aiming at who knows what......

And Nolan, who is getting the hang of cocking the gun and aiming!

On a positive note, at least they aren't pistols (the guns, not the kids)--then they really might shoot their eye out!

Nothing to post.....

I was gently reminded today that I needed to post something to my blog. Sorry Carrie!

I just don't have anything to post...I'd love to tell y'all that I have a great, interesting life, but it's just not true. I'm really a boring person! I love to stay home and clean or read a book. I's really very sad.

When I'm not working, I am hauling Nolan to t-ball which is twice a week, and don't forget dentist appointments (an hour and a half away in Lake City), ear check-ups (Carter has tubes and Nolan has had a TNA), doctor visits (well-visits so far praise the Lord), laundry, cooking, cleaning, church twice a week, and who knows what else!

I will tell you that the most excitement in my day was getting a pedicure this afternoon with my closest friend! After work, she and I met at the mall and each had a pedicure ('cause man my feet were like jiffy store feet!), proceeded to tell each other about the woes in our day (and there were plenty!) and then had dinner at Chili's! So...not too boring after all, huh?

I'm off to hit the cold sheets on my bed, in warm pajamas of course!

The Epitome of a Redneck!

Last weekend, Cecil and I had the opportunity to be guests of Sprint (as in the Sprint Cup, Bud Shootout) in Daytona Beach. We were able to do this last year as well--I really enjoy going, but only 'cause I don't have to sit with the "regular folk" as I like to say.

Now listen, I'm as regular as they come, BUT there's just something about sitting next to some old man, whom I do not know, wearing a shirt with the arm holes cut out of them, as he drinks an Old Milwaukee (or worse). I've had to do that before too. (sit by the old man, not drink an Old Milwaukee--it still makes me shudder) (i.e. the EPITOME OF A REDNECK)

Anyhow, back to the main point. We had suite tickets, so we had to dress up (which I do enjoy too) and we got to go on a pit tour, to see the driver's cars, etc. It's so cool! Absolutely one of my favorite things to do! Sort of makes you feel important when you are wearing a badge and all dressed up and such, and people are watching you like you are someone important...HA! If they only knew Cecil was a farmer! hee-hee

We had a charter bus meet us in Gainesville to drive us to Daytona--that is great because it takes us right to the front of the Speedway and drops us off and then it's there when the race is over! The driver rolled out the red carpet for us too!

Here's a picture of me and Cecil as we got inside Daytona International Speedway--

During the pit tour, we get to see the driver's cars and take pictures, and walk around the pit area where they do work on the cars, see the driver's trailers, etc. During the tour, Sprint provides us with headphones so we can hear what the tour guide is saying to us. Here's Cecil and I during the tour-(for those that know me well, you know that I do NOT like to get my hair messed up, you'll notice I wore those crazy headphones down lower than most people!)

We had a great time! It stinks that my favorite driver (Dale, Jr.) did not win, but oh was so much fun!!

King of the Jungle

I have to tell you that my boys, yes, my boys, LOVE bathtime. They have loved bathtime their entire lives (which has only been 5 and 3 years, respectively). (if they are taking after their mama, they will love bathtime for many years to come!)

Here's my little "King of the Jungle" in his favorite bath towel!

Weight Loss Woes

Weight Loss we go again....another diet....(you do realize if you take off the "t" it becomes "die", right?)...precisely why I hate dieting!!

Such as it is though, it's a necessary evil for me. While I've used the whole "baby fat" excuse for several years now, it's time to give that one up. My youngest is 3. Sad, sad story. Maybe I could use "they were NINE POUND babies?" Nah...I tried that one too to no avail. It's time.

Wait!! I thought of a new excuse! "It runs in my family!" Yup. That's the one I'll use! No, wait. I've used that one too. (even though it really does run in my family)

In my family, we all have that little bit of extra to lose and are all always trying to get the weight off. I can remember my mama always being on a diet. Heaven knows that the woman had willpower though. Not me. That's one trait I did NOT inherit from my mother. The eyes? Yes. The skin? Yes. The tan? Yes. The teaching of Jesus, church and the Bible? Yes. Willpower? Absolutely NOT. I was skipped right over on the willpower gene. Not one iota of it (I love the word iota).

I am officially on a diet now--this is my second week. So far, so good. If I can just exercise regularly, I can do this! I find that when I get home, I'd rather sit and veg out than run a mile on the elliptical. Duh. Who wouldn't? Instead, I count laundry folding, chasing around 2 very active boys, cooking, cleaning and whatever else gets done as exercise. Is that cheating? Probably.

Here's to losing 50 LBS!!

So...I attended a meeting last night at my child's soon to be elementary school about school uniforms.

If you are reading this post, and you have a child currently at JBES or going to JBES, this affects you (no matter what your opinion is)! They are voting on this in May!

I AM ADAMANTLY OPPOSED TO SCHOOL UNIFORMS!!!!!!! I would be happy to share some of my reasons with you, if you like.
