What a difference a year makes.

I've said it before (and I'll say it again)--I absolutely cannot believe my Nolan is finished with Kindergarten! He did so good in school and really loves it!

Q & U got MARRIED!

I know that school was out as of yesterday, (sniff, sniff--my boy is done with his first year of SCHOOL!) (Can you believe it?!?!?!!) but I wanted to post about a few events he had the last few weeks of school......

Nolan has the BEST Kindergarten teacher EVER!! She is just AWESOME! Words cannot describe how I feel about N's teacher! She is a non-stop ball of pure energy! Good thing too, cause she only had 4 girls in her class this year--the rest were BOYS. And by boys, I mean BOYS! 100% pure BOY.
Anyhow--one of the "big" things Mrs. H does is a Q&U wedding. You know--the letters? Q & U? Well, you see...they never go anywhere without each other...as in quilt, quick, and quack. See? Q&U are best friends and they're married for life. I think this is an AWESOME teaching tool for the kids. Whenever they are reading, they will know when they see qu, how it sounds.

I know you are laughing at this point, but it's Kindergarten for cryin' out loud. And it's cute. And Kindergarten is supposed to be cute. ; ) Like this fellow......
The kids come to school dressed in their "finest" outfits and Mrs. H dresses them up even further by putting homemade vests and coats on them--complete with bow tie and top hats!

The room is decorated for a BIG Q&U wedding, complete with black trash bags over the chairs and paper flowers, etc.!!

And after the ceremony, which the Assistant Principal performed, the kids sang a sweet song......isn't it adorable?
The lovely bride and groom........
And then it was off to the reception! The adjoining classroom was decorated with cute tables and such...and we had cake and punch....isn't this just getting more adorable by the minute?

I was so excited to be able to share this with Nolan!!!

Q&U..sitting in a tree...k-i-s-s-i-n-g........(I'm sorry I could NOT resist that one!)

As the deer......

I pulled up to work this morning about 6:20....here's what greeted me in the field adjacent to our building....... Three deer feasting........What I was instantly reminded of is one of my favorite scripture verses....

Psalm 42:1; As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.

Baseball-Baseball-Baseball

I've been remiss in posting about the baseball banquet held a few weeks ago to honor the baseball team at the high school. Since hubby is an Assistant Coach we attend and get to share in the team's special night.

Hubby LOVES baseball. LOVES IT LOVES IT LOVES IT. Me? Not so much. I can do with or without it to be honest. I like to watch it and I enjoy going to the games, but the late nights he's out there with those kids as opposed to his own, and all the extra time that goes with it is just not for me. It just so happens that my best friend's husband is the Head Coach, so she and I get to vent to each other about "baseball wives stuff" and know what the other is going through! ha!
Our great and wonderful Coaches.........
This year, the guest speaker was Ed McPadden (sp?) who is now a 32 year coaching veteran as well as the Athletic Director for Marion County schools. When Hubby was in high school, he played against McPadden's team and McPadden did say he remembered Cecil......I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but either way--hubby was remembered, ha-ha.

Here is the hubs and one of the players.......whose family is also friends with ours and actually, related "down the line"...........an all-around good kid and very respectful.

Overall, a great ending to a good year of ball playing........and secretly, I'm glad it's over (shhh! don't tell!)

W-W-Watermelon

It's that time of year again when I see buses coming and going in front of the house--and one of these beauties comes home with the hubby.....
We started loading this week (praise the Lord!), and the boys always eat the first one from the field! It's a tradition. And you know how I feel about tradition. You don't mess with tradition. Cecil took the boys out on our back porch and they cut open the melon........

And let the eating commence!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Watermelon Season!
